Weekend Sweep of Milwaukee & Wisconsin

This past weekend, the Chill took on the Milwaukee Power on Friday night & the Wisconsin Whalers on Saturday & Sunday. Friday night was a big game against the Power, as they were sitting in second place in the division while the Chill were right behind them in third place.

The game began very evenly matched, the two teams battling on both sides of the ice. However, the Chill were able to strike first at 11:10 of the first period with a power play goal from Thomas Magnavite (Toon De Schepper, Brady Lindauer). The Chill would head to the locker room after one period of play with the 1-0 lead over the Power. The second period began and the Chill wasted little time getting their second goal of the game from defenseman Connor Losen (1:54; Flavien Fondadouze) to make it 2-0. The Power cut the lead to one with a goal at 6:44 of the second period, but is quickly followed up by goal from Brady Lindauer (8:16; Thomas Magnavite) to make it 3-1. Thomas Magnavite gets his second goal of the game at 11:56 of the second with an assist from Brady Lindauer to make it 4-1. Forward Flavien Fondadouze nets one at 16:28 of the period to bring the score up to 5-1 with assists from Keaton Caplis & Judson McGrath. To round out the scoring in the second period, Thomas Magnavite completes his hat trick (17:07; Brady Lindauer) to make it 6-1 heading into the third period of play. The third period was a battle once again between the two teams, after the scoring frenzy in the second, and no one was able to get past either goalie until Connor Losen nets his second goal of the game at 12:14 of the third period (Gijs De Schepper). The Chill would get the win over Milwaukee with a final score of 7-1 and that win would allow the Chill to slip past the Power into second place in the division. Goalie Devin Naidow gets the win in net, stopping a total of 29 out of 30 shots faced.

Saturday night, the Chill took on the Wisconsin Whalers. Two periods go by with no scoring from either team, the Chill were outshooting the Whalers 35 to 12 but just couldn’t seem to find their scoring rhythm. Not until the third period that is. The scoring floodgates opened for the Chill early on in the third period, with Flavien Fondadouze getting the first goal on the board of the game (1:33; Matt Janke, Keaton Caplis). Following up on the power play would be Brandon Ratzloff at 3:06 of the period with assists from Brady Lindauer & Connor Losen to make it 2-0. Thomas Magnavite gets on the board next just three minutes later with an assist from Brady Lindauer. Flavien Fondadouze gets his second goal of the game shortly after, unassisted, to make it 4-0. Brandon Ratzloff would get the final goal of the game, once again on the power play (8:11; Matt Janke, Brady Lindauer) and that would give the Chill a 5-0 victory over the Whalers. Goalie Devin Naidow gets the win in net, stopping all 20 shots faced.

Sunday afternoon was the final game of the weekend, with the Chill taking on the Wisconsin Whalers once again. This time, the Whalers strike first and take the 1-0 lead in the first period and they would hold that lead for the rest of the period. In the second period, the Chill tie it up at 4:10 with a goal from Matt Janke, with the assist from Aslan Akervik. Then, Thomas Magnavite will get the game winning goal on the power play (9:06; Brandon Ratzloff, Brady Lindauer) to make it 2-1 in favor of the Chill. The third period would have no scoring, which gives the Chill a nailbiter 2-1 win over the Whalers to sweep the weekend! Goalie Devin Naidow gets the win in net, stopping 24 of the total 25 shots faced.

The Chill will be back in action at home this weekend, February 8th-10th, with a 3 game homestand against the number one team in the central division, the St. Louis Jr. Blues.
