Weekend Recap – Oct. 25 & 27

This past weekend the Coulee Region Chill hosted the Wausau RiverWolves at home and were able to secure another victory. The Chill also traveled to Peoria and broke their win streak against the Mustangs. 

On Friday, October 25th, the RiverWolves came to town for a Central Division matchup at Green Island Ice Arena. Prior to this game, the Chill were rolling on a three game winning streak looking to get their 4th W in a row. Both teams were scoreless after one period of play.  First to hit the scoresheet in this Central Division matchup was Jacob Best with his 7th goal of the season. Assists on that goal came from both Parker Severson and Christopher Drews. Another Chill goal came later in the period from Gadel Khismatullin with assists from both Flavien Fondadouze and Branwen Pollet. The Chill rolled their momentum into the third period as they struck again at the 2:33 mark in the third. That goal was from Flavien Fondadouze with assists from Gadel Khismatullin and Zach Cherry. A fourth and final goal from the Chill came late in the period to secure the 4-0 victory. Jacob Best would score his second goal of the night with assists coming from both Parker Severson and Chrisopher Drews. Michael Janke was in net for the Chill to help keep the win streak alive. Janke was able to stop 18 of the 18 shots he faced in the game for his first shutout of the 2019-2020 season. 

On Sunday, October 27th the Chill were on the road for their second game of the weekend as they traveled to Peoria to take on the Mustangs in another Central Division matchup. During the first two periods of this game, the Chill were unable to find the back of the net while Peoria was able to score twice. Early in the third period Branwen Pollett was able to find the back of the net for the Chill for their first goal of the night. Assists on that goal came from both Jacob Best and Parker Severson. Peoria answered with another goal no more than a minute later, though. Deeper into the third period, Sam VanderHoeven was able to net the Chill’s second goal of the night with an assist coming from Christopher Gilbert. Peoria would score two more times to secure the 5-2 victory over the Chill. Devin Naidow was in net for the Chill and was able to stop 29 of the 33 shots he faced. 

Up next for the Chill is a two home game stand this weekend! The Milwaukee Power come to town on Friday, November 1st. On Saturday, November 2nd the Peoria Mustangs will be the opponent.
