Weekend Recap – Oct. 11-12

The Chill split their weekend series with an away loss on Friday and a home win against the Milwaukee Power in their 2019-2020 home opener. 

On Friday, October 12th the Chill traveled to Wausau to face the RiverWolves in a Central Division matchup. Wausau struck first in this game with the only goal to be seen in the first period. During the second period, Wausau was able to find the back of the net two more times until the Chill finally hit the score sheet. At the 13:03 mark in the second period, Marco Escobar scored the first goal for the Chill with an assist from Sam VanderHoeven. After two periods, Wausau lead the Chill 3-1. With some momentum going for the Chill Sam VanderHoeven was able to net the Chill’s second goal of the night 17 seconds into the period with an assist coming from Marco Escobar. Wausau would end that momentum with their fourth goal of the night to close out the game. 

On Saturday, October 12th the Chill hosted the Milwaukee Power in their 2019-2020 season home opener. During the 1st period, only the Chill were able to find their way onto the score sheet. At the 8:13 mark in the 1st, Christopher Drews scored his second goal of the season with assists coming from both Christopher Gilbert and Joey Wiczek. The momentum rolled into the second period for the Chill as Flavien Fondadouze was able to score with an assist from Marco Escobar. To extend their lead even more, the Chill were able to score on the power play with a goal from Jacob Best with assists from both Marco Escobar and Parker Severson. Milwaukee finally found themselves on the score sheet late in the second period. With a 3-1 lead going into the third, the Chill were able to push past Milwaukee’s goal and score for their fourth time of the night to secure the victory. The Chill’s fourth goal came from Parker Severson with assists to both Marco Escobar and Branwen Pollett. Devin Naidow was in net for the Chill and was able to help the Chill win their 2019-2020 season home opener while stopping 20 of the 21 shots he faced. 

Coming up next for the Chill is an away game on Friday, October 18th as they travel to New Ulm to take on the Steel. On Saturday, October 19th the Chill then host the Steel at Green Island Ice Arena.
