The Coulee Region Chill started off the month of November with a bang as they were able to make two marks in the win column. The Chill took a homestand this past weekend as the Milwaukee Power and Peoria Mustangs came to town. With two victories secured, the Chill were able to make there way up to third place in the Central Division standings with multiple games in hand.
On Friday, November 1st the Milwaukee Power came to town for a Central Division showdown at Green Island Ice Arena. The Chill struck first in this game with a goal coming from Joey Wiczek with assists from both Chris Gilbert and Chris Drews. Shortly after the first goal, Sam VanderHoeven was able to find the back of the net with assists coming from both Flavien Fondadouze and Gadel Khismatullin. After one period of play the Chill lead 2-0. The Chill would net three more goals in the second period to gain a commanding lead. The three goals in the second period came from Sam VanderHoeven, Gadel Khismatullin, and Parker Severson. Many other players hit the score sheet during the second period with assists. Parker Severson, Flavien Fondadouze, Gijs De Schehppe, Jacob Best, and Gadel Khismatullin who all contributed to the three goals scored in the second period. The Chill continued to roll with their momentum into the third period as they scored their 6th goal of the game. That goal would come from Zach Cherry with assists from both Jacob Best and Parker Severson. Jacob Best would score the 7th and final goal from the Chill on the night with assists coming from Zach Cherry and Parker Severson. Milwaukee would deny the shutout with their first goal of the night at the 11 minute mark in the third period. Devin Naidow was in net for the Chill to help them secure the 7-1 victory as he stopped 24 of the 25 shots he faced on the night.
On Saturday, November 2nd the Peoria Mustangs came to town for the second game of the weekend. Deep into the first period the Chill would hit the score sheet first with a goal coming from Christopher Drews with assists coming from Joey Wiczek and Christopher Gilbert. Peoria would answer with a goal shortly after to tie the game up after one period of play. Early in the second period the Chill would take back the lead with a goal from Christopher Gilbert with an assist coming from Christopher Drews. Again, Peoria would answer with their second goal of the night to tie the game up. Shortly after, Christopher Drews would take the lead for the Chill with his second goal of the night. Assisting that goal was Chritopher Gilbert. After two periods of play the Chill lead by one. Into the third period the Chill would extend their lead with a goal from Flavien Fondadouze with assists by Sam VanderHoeven and Gadel Khismatullin. No more than a minute later, Peoria would answer to cut the Chill’s lead to only one goal. Deep into the third, Sam VanderHoeven would ice the game for the Chill with their fifth goal of the night. Assists on that goal came from both Parker Severson and Branwen Pollett. In net for the Chill was Michael Janke. Janke was able to stop 21 of the 24 shots he faced on the night to help the Chill secure a 5-3 victory over the Peoria Mustangs.
