This past weekend, the Chill were able to take down the first place Rochester Grizzlies at home. With that win, the Chill still remain in third place in the Central Division standings with games in hand and potential to climb in the standings.
On Sunday, the Grizzlies came to town for the two teams’ fifth meeting this season. The Grizzlies opened up the game with a goal early in the first period. An answer from the Chill came late in the first as Christopher Gilbert found the back of the net with assists from Marco Escobar and Ethan McCormack. Around the half-way point of the second period the Chill lit a spark with three unanswered goals to take a demanding 4-1 lead. Those goals came from Sam VanderHoeven, Gijs De Schepper, and Parker Severson. Many other names including Jeremiah Lesback, Jacob Best, Parker Severson, Christopher Gilbert, and Dylan Dent also found their names on the scoresheet with this three goal-run. Rochester was finally able to slow the
Chill down late in the second period when they netted their second goal of the game. Half way through the third period the Grizzlies found the back of the net for the third time to cut the Chill’s lead to one. With a minute remaining in the game Parker Severson scored an empty-net goal to give the Chill a sigh of relief. With only one second remaining, the Grizzlies found the back of the net for their fourth goal, but would fall short to the Chill. To help secure the 5-4 victory over the Grizzlies was goalie, Devin Naidow. Naidow was able to stop 37 of the 41 shots he faced in the game.
Up next, the Chill stare into a three-game weekend. They start off on the road in Milwaukee Thursday night and make their way back home for a two game series with the Peoria Mustangs on Friday and Saturday night.
