In the final game of the 2019 NA3HL Showcase the Chill fell short to the Granite City Lumberjacks. The Chill finished the Showcase with a 2-1 record while defeating the Danbury Colonials in their first game and the New England Stars in their second game.
The Chill came out fast in the first period during Tuesday’s game against Granite City. Christopher Drews found the back of the net early for the Chill with an assist from Gadel Khismatullin. About a minute later, Dylan Dent added another goal to the Chill’s lead with an assist from Marco Escobar. Granite City was then able to find the back of the net for their first of the game. Late in the first period, the Chill struck again to regain their two goal lead with a goal from Joey Wiczek. An assist came on that goal from Gadel Khismatullin. Granite City would pull off the comeback to defeat the Chill of a score of 5-3. Granite City scored twice in the second period and two more times in the third all while shutting out the Chill in the final two periods. In net for the Chill was goaltender, Michael Janke. Janke was able to stop 15 of the 20 shots he faced in the game.
The Chill’s first games in 2020 will be two road series games as they travel to take on the Peoria Mustangs on January 4th and 5th. The Chill will be back on home ice on January 11th as they take on the St. Louis Jr. Blues! Get your tickets early: www.crchill.com.
