The Coulee Region Chill have now played two of their three games at the 2019 NA3HL Showcase. On Sunday, December 15th the Chill took down the Danbury Colonials in their opening game of the 2019 NA3HL Showcase. Continuing into Monday, December 16th the Chill also was victorious defeating the New England Stars with an OT thriller win.
Sunday, December 15th:
The Chill opened up their 2019 Showcase with a game against the Danbury Colonials. This was the first meeting between the two teams. The Chill were able to find the back of the net first with a goal from Sam VanderHoeven. Assists on the goal came from Flavien Fondadouze and Gadel Khismatullin. The Colonials answered quickly with their first goal of the Showcase. From here on out, it was all Coulee Region Chill. Late in the first period, Christopher Gilbert took back the lead for the Chill with assists coming from Christopher Drews and Joey Wiczek. Into the second period, Parker Severson would extend the lead for the Chill with a short-handed goal. Assists on Severson’s goal came from both Marco Escobar and Branwen Pollett. Late in the second, Gadel Khismatullin added to the Chill’s lead with a power-play goal with assists from Dylan Dent and Christopher Gilbert. In the third period, Parker Severson scored the lone goal for his second of the night to help the Chill wrap up their first game of the 2019 NA3HL Showcase. Assists on Severson’s second goal came from Jacob Best and Marco Escobar. The Chill would defeat the Danbury Colonials of a score of 5-1. In net for the Chill was goaltender, Michael Janke. Janke was able to help the Chill secure the win while stopping 26 of the 27 shots he faced on the night.
Monday, December 16th:
After starting off the 2019 NA3HL Showcase with a win over Danbury, the Chill’s next challenge was not even 24 hours ahead of them. With their second game of the Showcase they would play the New England Stars for the first meeting between the two teams. This game started off slow with no scoring in the first period from either team. Into the second period, the Chill were able to tally a goal first in this game. Marco Escobar took the lead for the Chill early in the second with assists from Parker Severson and Jacob Best. Shortly after, New England was able to tie the game back up at 1-1. Another slow period played out with no scoring again in the third period form either team. At the end of regulation the two teams were tied 1-1. Jacob Best was able to secure the victory for the Chill with an OT GWG! Assists came from Gijs De Schepper and Christopher Gilbert. In net for the Chill was goaltender, Devin Naidow. Naidow played lights out for the Chill stopping 25 of the 26 shots he faced during the game. The Chill now advance to 2-0 in the 2019 NA3HL Showcase with one more game ahead of them.
