BLAINE, Minn. – The Coulee Region Chill's special teams were ice cold Friday, and it cost them in a 5-4 loss to the Fresno Monsters at the NAHL Showcase Tournament.
The Chill had a 2-1 lead in the first period and scored the final two goals of the game, but in between, Fresno scored three power play goals and held Coulee Region to 0-for-7 on the power play.
Fresno's DJ Carnley scored three goals, including a penalty shot awarded with one second left in the second period.
For the Chill, Jake Useldinger had a goal and an assist and Jimmy Hughes scored his team-leading third goal. Eric Drapluk added two assists. Aaron Davis made 27 saves in the loss.
The Chill play their final game of the Showcase against Amarillo at 7:15 p.m. today.
