OWATONNA, Minn. – Defenseman Mike McDonald scored 1 minute, 44 seconds into overtime to give the Coulee Region Chill a 4-3 victory over the Owatonna Express on Saturday.
The win moved second-place Coulee Region back to within two points of North American Hockey League Central Division leader Owatonna. The Chill have seven games remaining; Owatonna has four.
Coulee Region (30-16-5) took a 3-1 lead early in the second period after goals by defensemen Ben Gislason and Eric Drapluk and forward David Ripple's 20th of the season.
The Express answered with two goals to tie it before McDonald put away the game winner with assists from Micky Knox and Zac Frischmon. Aaron Davis made 36 saves for the Chill.
