Chill fall in home opener, prepare to host Fairbanks

It was a packed house at the Green Island Ice Arena for the 2016-17 Coulee Region Chill home opener.  The rink was loud and local fans were excited to see their team play at home for the first time this season.

The first period was owned by the Austin Bruins as the Chill trailed their I-90 foe 0-1 heading into the second.  Second-year Chill veteran and Eau Claire, Wisconsin native Phil Erickson (Larry Jungwirth, Matt Hines) tied it up in the middle frame, scoring his first goal of the season after scoring nine goals in 2015-16.  Austin answered four minutes later and took a 2-1 lead into the third.

It wasn’t until a 3-1 deficit before the Chill found the back of the net again, this time by Shay Donovan (Trenton Bliss, Kevin Dineen).  2-3 was as close at the Chill would get in their first action at home as they’d fall to the Bruins 2-5.

Artur Pavliukov was busy in net, facing 37 shots and saving 33 on the nights as he fell to 2-2 on the season.

Chill look for revenge against 2016 Robertson Cup Champions
