Chill drop series to Wilderness, host Jets Saturday night

It was a rough weekend for the Coulee Region Chill who had been previously lights out at home.  Friday’s contest started off on the right foot as the Chill led 1-0 after a goal by defenseman Jackson Decker (Kevin Dineen, Scott Corbett) in the first period. They then added another goal in the third, this time by forward Billy Duma (Isaac Theisen, Caleb Schroer) to make the score 2-0. But it was not enough as the Wilderness fought back with two late goals in the final five minutes of the 3rd to send the game into overtime.  Forward Michael Zuffante completed the comeback for Minnesota as they stole the first game of the series 3-2.

Goalie Todd Scott held his own in the loss saving 47/50 shots over the course of the game.

Saturday’s matchup started out as a defensive battle as the two teams traded goals in the first and second periods and entered the 3rd tied 2-2.  The Wilderness broke things open after that, however, scoring three times in the final period for a 5-2 victory.  The Mill’s led the way for Minnesota, as forwards Zach and Dylan scored twice on the evening.  The loss drops Coulee Region to 11-6-2 on the year.

The Coulee Region Chill have just one game this weekend and it’s at home!  They’re playing host to the Janesville Jets this Saturday at the Green Island Ice Arena.  It will be the second meeting between the two teams this season, the first matchup belonging to Janesville after they won 6-5 in an OT thriller.   Puck drops at 7 pm.
