Last year the Coulee Region Chill managed to avoid the injury bug throughout the 2010'11 campaign. This season has been a different scenerio as they waited until the first week of December to get Power Forward Greg Walton back, only to have him suffer another injury to his knee against the Aberdeen Wings. Defensemen Ryan Jaremko had gotten off to a great start at the blueline for the Chill this season and still remains on the shelf with a shoulder injury that he hopes will get better by late January. Jimmy Hughes is back from his double jaw fracture and now Micah Ranum will be out for an undetermined time with a wrist injury. Enter Jack McCartan, a sizeable forward at 6'2, 215 LBS. Jack had attended one of the CR Chill summer camps and Coach Strot liked what he saw, but Jack went to play for the Minot Minotauros for the first couple months of the season. With the two big bodies of Walton & Ranum out, the need for some more muscle up front prompted Strot to make the call to the Eden Prairie MN native in Jack McCartan to join the Chill for this week of practices and he will suit up in the white #11 jersey this weekend against the Alexandria Blizzard.
