The Brookings Blizzard took the lead against the Coulee Region Chill in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory.
Vsevold Kramerev provided Brookings with the game-winning tally when he scored 7:12 into the the first period. Drew Brevig assisted on the tally.
Thomas Williams had a great game for the Blizzard, netting two goals. Williams' tallies came at 16:26 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Brookings and 19:32 into the third to make the score 3-1 Brookings.
Brookings forced Coulee Region goalie Aaron Davis to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.
In addition, Brookings received assists from Jordan Stejskal, who had two and Nick DeCenzo and Cody Marooney, who each chipped in one.
The Chill's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Brookings power plays. The defense for Coulee Region played an important role offensively, racking up 11 shots on goal.
The Chill were led by Matt Williams, who scored the team's only goal. Williams scored 12:50 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Brookings. Tyler Klein provided the assist.
Drew Weigman recorded 24 saves for the Blizzard. Brookings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Aaron Davis made 29 saves for Coulee Region on 31 shots. The Chill incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
This weekend the Central Division leading Austin Bruins are in town to do battle with the Chill. Austin won the first meeting 5-2.
