Are You Ready For Some Home Cooking?

The Coulee Region Chill made their first trip to Alaska in franchise history and came home with 4 hard earned points. The trek started in Kenai River where the Chill lost two hard fought tilts with the Brown Bears. Eddie Matsushima continued where he left off in Janesville netting two goals but the Chill fell short in a very physical series.

While in Kenai River the boys and Coach's saw the beauty that is Alaska, with stunning water fronts and even a moose or two. Fairbanks was the top team in the Midwest Division and getting points against them would not be an easy undertaking. The Ice Dogs have been one of the most consistant franchises in NAHL history and a staple of the Robertson Cup Finals in the last few seasons.

The CRC stormed out of the gate last Thursday night scoring the first 3 goals of the game from Eddie, Gordon & Mac. This game was not a runaway though as Fairbanks scored 2 goals to draw within 1 in the 3rd until Mac Jansen scored his 2nd goal of the night to seal a 4-2 Chill win.

Friday night's game in Fairbanks was a defensive battle and the Chill penalty kill sparked by Jesse Tredinnick gave them a 1-0 lead in the 2nd period but the Ice Dogs out shot the Chill 15-8 in the 3rd period and were able to get 3 shots past Blake Cates for a 3-1 series tying win.

Saturday night would be the rubber match in Fairbanks and it was a great one after the Ice Dogs came out strong in the first, out shooting the CRC 10-5. Adam Carlson was rock solid as he was tested multiple times and then finally in the 2nd Period he gave one up. The Chill then rallied to tie the game 1-1 when Griff Jeszka scored from Sean Kalbak & Jesse Tredinnick.

What happens with 1:35 left in the 3rd is why the NAHL honored the Chill captain Mac Jansen with Midwest Divion Player of the Week. Mac "Attack" scores!!!!!! and Adam Lovick continued his stellar start to the 2013'14 campaign with the assist and the Chill won the series against the extremely tough Fairbanks Ice Dogs who are now tied with Kenai River for 1st place.

The NAHL also honored Adam Carlson again with the 2nd Star in the Midwest Division and this is the first time in franchise history that the Chill have received #1 and #2 in any week.

This weekend the (7-4-0) Chill host the (3-4-1) Janesville Jets for the home opener. CRC lead the series 2-0 after going to Janesville and sweeping the Jets. Janseville is coming off a weekend sweep of Michigan.
