Wings Sweep Chill In Front Of Season’s Largest Crowd

The Coulee Region Chill started the weekend in 3rd place in the Midwest Division, one point up on the Springfield Jr. Blues. Friday night the Coulee Region Chill found themselves trailing yet again by a score of 2-0 in the 1st period when Tommy Miller scored to bring it within one. There was no scoring in the 2nd period, then the Chill stormed back in the 3rd with two Jake Useldinger goals. Drapluk and Jimmy Hughes got the helpers on both goals by Dinger, one of them scored with just 56 ticks left on the clock in regulation. The Coulee Region forced the game to OT and then the eventual shootout where they lost 3-1. Mac Jansen scored the lone Chill SO goal. Numerous NHL Scouts were in the house this weekend looking at highly touted Wings prospect Cory Ward, who scored 2 goals in this game and then added a SO gaol as well.

Saturday night the Chill just could not get it going. They fell behind just 59 seconds into the game when Steve Obarzanek set a perfect dish in front to Cullen Hurley, who put it past Aaron Davis for a 1-0 lead. The Chill then completely collapsed in the 2nd Period, being out shot 23-10 and giving up 2 more goals and the eventual shutout for Hunter Leisner by a final score of 3-0.

The Chill head to Bismarck ND on Thursday morning for games on Friday & Saturday night at 7:15 pm. Eric Swahn will be back in the lineup after his ankle injury. The Coulee Region now sit in 4th place in the Midwest Division, one point back of Springfield and 14 points ahead of the Chicago Hitmen, who are due in to play the Chill for the next home stand Jan 20, 21st.
