The Chill offense got to work right away in Friday night’s home contest with Caleb Schroer (Schmidt-Svejstrup, McGlynn) and Justin Kendall (Thiesen, List) lighting up the signal in the first period. An Isaac Thiesen (Quagliata, Doran) goal was matched by Janesville in the second before the Chill ran away with the game in the third from another goal for Justin Kendall (Dineen, Theisen) and a pair from Marshall Plunkett (Martin, Falconer) and Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup (Schroer, Quagliata). Brad Arvanitis picked up the win with a 40-save game against an explosive Jets offense in the 6-3 victory.
The Chill didn’t have the same luck on the road the next night when Matt Doran (Sofo, List) and Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup’s (Quagliata, Schroer) second period goals were matched by Janesville putting four in the net in the final 20 minutes. Joe Marcoullier was left with the loss despite saving 36 of 39 Jets shots.
This weekend the Chill will head up to Richfield, MN to play the Magicians and try to use a familiar opponent to shake off some road rust before making their annual trip to Alaska to take on the Ice Dogs and Brown Bears in the coming weeks.
