Jesse Tredinnick has been lighting the lamp at record pace for the Onalaska Hilltoppers and has been on the Chill Head Coach Garrett Strot's radar since seeing Jesse lead the state in scoring last season. Jesse has scored 31 goals to go along with 33 assists, with an average of 2 points per game in 22 games this season.
Strot spoke with Jesse before the trip to Minot and asked him about his interest in joining the Coulee Region Chill in camp next May. I am sure many things went through his head, including visions of scoring game winning goals in the NAHL in his home town. Tredinnick did not want to be hasty in his decision and asked if he could let Coach Strot know the following week.
Jesse's brother Jordan spent two seasons in the NAHL with the Owatonna Express (Now Odessa Jackalopes) and last year with the Janesville Jets. Jordan was a candidate for Mr. Hockey in his senior year, scored the game winning goal in the sectional final in Wisconsin Rapids and a trip to the WIAA State Quarterfinals in 08'09, where they eventually lost to state champion Arrowhead 4-0. Jordan currently attends UW Stout where he is enjoying an outstanding freshman year, with 7-9-16 points in 25 games.
I think Jordan's experience in the NAHL helped Jesse with his decision to go the same rout and accept the tender offered by Strot.
Jesse Tredinnick and the Onalaska Hilltoppers begin their quest for a WIAA state championship on Thursday night at the Onalaska Omni Center, as they await the winner of La Crosse vs. Tomah on Tuesday night. Hilltoppers Coach Tim Ebner purposefully scheduled tough matchups outside of the MVC to strengthen his team for a state playoff push in the end. The Hilltoppers defeated ranked teams like Middleton, Waunakee, University School and DC Everest.
Tim Ebner will join Scotty Gran on the Chill Coach's Show tonight from 5:30-6:30 at Red Pines Bar & Grill in Brice Prairie. 1490 WLFN and online streaming live right here at crchill.com.
